Choosing a Winch Cover: Size, Fabric & Seams

A winch cover needs a shape and closure suited to the particular winch. Compare the size drawing and installed photos with the equipment on your boat before selecting a code.

Measure the winch

Record its height and the diameters at the top and widest part, using the reference points shown in the cover drawing. Include any base or fitting that affects the cover opening. A winch brand or nominal model name alone may not provide every measurement needed.

Check the closure

Look at the opening, elastic or other fastening arrangement and how it sits on the winch. Check access for fitting and removal and compare the supplied cover shape with the selected size.

Review material and seams

Read the fabric description, lining if specified, seam details and care instructions for that item. Where GELAY appears, it refers to the stated fabric, while the finished cover brand is FlickerMarine. Request product-specific information for any required performance rating.

Include the cover in equipment care

Follow the winch manufacturer's maintenance guidance as well as the cover's fitting and care instructions. Inspect the cover and closure for damage or trapped debris, and follow the care label before storing it. A cover does not replace winch servicing.
